Motel California

500.00

For the early days of my new life in Los Angeles, I relied solely on my jeep to move about the city. I would rarely drive on the freeway because the jeep was unreliable, loud, uncomfortable, inefficient and sometimes dangerous.. In the event I did drive on the freeway, this motel was always part of my journey. Near Venice Blvd and Sepulveda, this became a symbol of home. The closest offramp to my apartment, it was an unavoidable landmark that I'd see every time I returned from a "journey" and they were journeys, because I wouldn't be on the freeway otherwise. It will always be a memorable introduction to Googie architecture and despite its otherwise awful appearance, it will long hold a special place in my memory.
