hu-man hole

from $20.00

Los Angeles has uniquely large variety of municipal water “manhole” covers that chronicle the history of what is today known as LADWP. These 7-9” plates have all the same features of the plates you love and know from World Market or Pottery Barn, except they’re embossed with one of many designs used to mark water lines throughout the city. During use take moment to consider the metaphorical hole that we’ve dug, a several hundred mile long scar on the face of Earth, in an effort to source water throughout the West, for use here in Los Angeles. Not in guilt, but in contentiousness be reminded that we ought not take a drop of water for granted.
